Thanks for your help. We have now returned after a fabulous trip. The sightseeing trips were all very interesting (especially Kazan which was absolutely amazing for a number of reasons) and well organised. Local guides were mostly excellent – one was ‘only’ good. The trip was well organised, with the train often spending time over night in sidings to make sure that we arrived at destinations at the best time. Food on board was generally good and there was plenty of it!

  • Trans-Siberian Itinerary (Eastbound) Tsar’s Gold Private Train 2022

    Day 1. Welcome to Moscow

You are greeted at the airport by our friendly tour director and accompanied to your hotel. Our City of Lights tour shows you around the exquisitely illuminated Russian capital. Stroll across the famous Red Square with your guide and take a short trip on the famous Metro to view several of Moscow’s particularly beautiful metro stations.

    Overnight: InterContinental Tverskaya (or similar).

Day 2. Moscow from Its Most Beautiful Side

In the morning, we take an exciting tour of Moscow, including the impressive Kremlin grounds and one of the magnificent cathedrals from tsarist times. In the evening, you are welcomed aboard your private train. A relaxed get-together in the dining car offers the chance to meet your fellow travellers and to learn more details about your private train.

    Day 3. Kazan

In the morning, we arrive in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan.  Enjoy the tour of the Kazan Kremlin (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), which has a wonderful panoramic view over the Volga River, where you learn about the turbulent history of the relationship between the Tatars, the Cossacks and the Russians. Your train resumes its journey east in the evening.

    Day 4. Yekaterinburg

Our train stops around noon in Yekaterinburg, the historical capital of the Urals. The city is remembered as the place where the Russian Tsar Nicholas II and his family were murdered in 1918. During a brief tour, you see the Church on Blood, built in 2003 in commemoration of that tragic historic event; and the city centre, beautifully restored in 2009. Back on board, you continue on your journey through the vast steppes of Western Siberia.

    Day 7. Irkutsk

Today, our train reaches Irkutsk, the capital of Eastern Siberia in Tsarist times. During our city tour, you will see, among other attractions, picturesque Siberian wooden houses and a memorial to Tsar Alexander III (the initiator of the Trans-Siberian Railroad), which was erected in 2003 where the Trans-Siberian Obelisk previously stood. After lunch, we take an excursion to a quaint open-air museum showcasing life and work in historical Siberia.
