    On our Cycling Tour Lithuania to Poland, explore the borderland of Lithuania and Poland, a land of gentle hills, sandy plains, vast primeval forests, crystal clear lakes and deep river valleys. The Cycling Tour Lithuania to Poland starts in the Lithuanian capital city Vilnius and finishes in the Polish capital city Warsaw, both cities famous for their Old towns designated as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. The tour programme also includes Druskininkai Spa Resort and Dzūkija National Park in Lithuania, cycling around Suwalki Lakeland with Wigry and Biebrza National Parks in Poland. Experience a wide variety of towns, villages and countryside for an excellent introduction to the very distinct characters of these two different countries which had a common history known as the Polish – Lithuanian Commonwealth in the 16th to 18th Centuries.

    Cycling grade and conditions: We rate this ‘Cycling Tour Lithuania to Poland’ as easy to moderate. Daily biking routes mainly on low traffic roads and cycle paths range from 32 to 57 km (20-36 miles) each day with a possibility to do more kilometres while cycling around Druskininkai Resort (Day 3-4) and Wigry Lake (Day 6). The terrain is dead flat most of the tour except a few stretches on rolling roads with some gradual hills in Lithuania (around Trakai and the route to Druskininkai) and Poland (Suwalki Lakeland and around Wigry Lake).
    Cycle rental is included in the price, you may upgrade to an E-cycle for a supplement.

  • Itinerary: Cycling Tour Lithuania to Poland

    Day 1 Friday (Lithuania): Vilnius

    Arrive in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania for more than 600 years. Make your way to the hotel to check-in for 2 nights.
    This evening, at the hotel, meet your fellow travellers at the welcome meeting with your tour guide.

    Overnight: 3 star COMFORT HOTEL LT Vilnius or similar

    Day 2 Saturday (Lithuania): Vilnius and Trakai

    After breakfast a guided tour of Vilnius Old Town. Afternoon trip to Trakai, the former capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Start your first cycle ride on gentle hills around Lake Galvė. En route we’ll stop in Trakai where you may visit the island castle built in the 14th century on a small island in Lake Galvė.

    Today: Cycling 23 km/14 miles. Minibus 55 km
    Overnight: 3 star COMFORT HOTEL LT Vilnius or similar

    Day 3 Sunday (Lithuania): Along the Nemunas River to Druskininkai Resort

    Transfer by minibus to Merkinė. Cycle ride to Druskininkai which is one of the best climatic and wellness springs resorts in Europe. Today’s cycle route goes via Liškiava famous for its 17-18th century Dominican monastery ensemble on the bank of the Nemunas River. Arrive in Druskininkai, check in at the hotel for 2 nights. This afternoon free in the resort or opt for a circular ride in the woods.

    Today: Cycling 32 km/20 miles or 48 km/30 miles. Minibus 100 km

    Day 4 Monday (Lithuania): Dzūkija National Park by Bike

    Morning transfer to Dzūkija National Park, the largest park in Lithuania with pine forests (90% of the territory) and one of 13 wild PAN parks in Europe. Here begins our cycle route through the woods and ethnographical villages. Afternoon trip to Grūtas Park, which has a unique distinction of being the place where all unwanted statues of Lenin were taken after Lithuania regained its independence from the Soviet Union.

    Today: Cycling 52 km/33 miles. Minibus 55 km
    Overnight: 3 star HOTEL REGINA Druskininkai or similar

    Day 5 Tuesday (Lithuania-Poland): Suwalki Lakeland and Town

    Morning bus transfer to Poland. After crossing the border we start cycling on rolling hills with picturesque views to beautiful lakes and Polish countryside. Wigry National park is our destination. En route we visit Suwałki, the largest town and the capital of the historical Suwałki region. Check in at the hotel for 2 nights.
    Dinner at the hotel (included).

    Today: Cycling 55 km/34 miles. Coach 85 km
    Overnight: Wigry National Park; HOTEL tba

    Day 6 Wednesday (Poland): Wigry National Park

    Circular bike tour on marked trails around Wigry Lake which is the largest, with 15 islands, one of the deepest at 73 m and one of the most beautiful lakes in th ePodlasie region. En route explore a former monastery, built by the death-obsessed Camaldolese monks in 17thC. The whole complex, complete with a church and 17 hermitages, is spectacularly located on a peninsula in the lake.

    Today: Cycling 47 km/29 miles
    Overnight: Wigry National Park; HOTEL: tba

    Day 7 Thursday (Poland): Augustow and Biebrza National Park

    Short transfer to Augustow, a small but appealing town, the gateway to the Suwałki region at the Netta River. Today we cycle along the GreenVelo route to Biebrza National Park which protects vast and relatively untouched fenlands with a unique variety of plants, rare wetland birds and mammals such as Elk and Beaver. Arrive in Goniadz, check in for 1 night.
    Dinner at the hotel (included).

    Today: Cycling 57 km/36 miles. Coach 28 km
    Overnight: 3 star HOTEL BARTLOWZINA Goniadz or similar

    Day 8 Friday (Poland) Goniadz – Warsaw

    This morning is dedicated to our final cycling ride along the Royal Route (Polish: Trakt Królewski) through Biebrza National Park. We then transfer by bus to Warsaw, capital of Poland. Check in at the hotel for 1 night.  Enjoy a guided tour of Warsaw Old Town.
    Dinner in local restaurant (included).

    Today: Cycling 39 km/24 miles. Coach 180 km
    Overnight: 3 star HOTEL METROPOL Warsaw or similar

    Day 9 Saturday (Poland): Warsaw

    Breakfast at the hotel. Say farewell to your fellow guests and check out.

  • Accommodation – Cycling Tour Lithuania to Poland

    We always reserve high quality accommodation for you to enjoy your holiday. Hotels, guesthouses and B&B’s we have selected are known for their comfortable rooms, hearty breakfast and cosy atmosphere. Some of them are typical in the region while in some places they are local landmarks.

    On our cycle tours we mainly use very nice 3* (in some places 4*), mostly Comfort and First-class hotels which are highly recommended due to their comfort, location and ambience.

    When staying in big cities where often our tours start and finish, for example, Vilnius, Riga, Tallinn, we always choose for you centrally located hotels. For your convenience we always offer extra nights at the same tour hotels before and after the tour.

  • Comfortable trekking / hybrid bikes (KTM, VDV – velo-de-ville) are used on our fully guided cycle tours in the Baltics.

    They are equipped with:

    • 24-speed Shimano derailleur gears with free wheel or 8-speed internal-hub gears, Shimano Nexus, & pedal brake (optional)
    • Aluminium frame of different size and type – lady’s, unisex and standard one with a crossbar
    • Front suspension fork (some are with lockout function) or rigid fork
    • 28″ and 26″ size wheels with flat-less puncture protection tires, Schwalbe Marathon Plus 40×622, the most suitable ones for all kind of roads in the Baltics
    • Comfortable saddle with springs or/and suspension seat post, easy adjustable height
    • Mudguards to keep you clean in case of bad weather
    • Bottle holder (except bikes with real lady’s frame)
    • Back rack for panniers (one waterproof pannier is included on most tours)
    • LED lights (front & back) with hub dynamo
    • Flat pedals which can be changed to SPD ones (extra charge) or your own pedals
    • You will be asked for your measurements prior to the trip

     

    E-bikes / Pedelecs – motor-assisted electric bikes are available for an extra charge on our guided cycle tours.

    We use high quality e-bikes specially designed for us by Velo-de-Ville (VDV) company in Germany. They are equipped with:

    • BOSCH central-drive motor (250W) and 11 ah Lithium-Ion battery (400Wh or 500 Wh) which lasts for up to 110 km/70 miles in eco mode
    • On-board computer with 5 riding modes: Off, Eco, Tour, Sport, Turbo
    • 8-speed internal-hub gears (Shimano Nexus) with freewheel or back-pedal brakes (optional)
    • Aluminium lady’s/unisex frame type of different size (SS – 42 cm/16″, S – 45 cm /17″, M – 50 cm /19″, L – 55 cm /21″, XL – 60 cm /24″) and standard frame with  a crossbar for tall men – XL size (60 cm/24″);

    Our accessories package to the rental bikes on all tours includes:

    • Bicycle pannier bag (ORTLIEB) with a 12.5 or 20 litres capacity

    • Re-usable plastic bottle for drinking water, which is free on all guided tours
    • Free of charge cycling helmet to fit you (S, M, L, XL – please inform us in advance about your most suitable helmet size or your head measurement in centimetres).

     

    Bikes, trailers & seats for children:

    Your children should have an enjoyable and safe trip. That’s why we provide your babies with inspected children’s seats (PROSPORT) or Danish 2-wheel trailers (WINTHER Dolphin), while the older children will receive a 1-wheel trailer-bike or a normal bike with 24″ or 26″ size wheels suitable for their age and size.
