Day 1

Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport or rail station and transferred to the hotel to check in for 3 nights.
Today we include a walking tour of Lviv, which includes a general orientation tour of this charming city with its elegant Opera and Ballet Theatre, numerous Catholic and Orthodox churches, Jewish quarter, ancient Armenian Cathedral, the beautiful Boim Chapel and we visit the oldest functioning Pharmacy Museum in the city, which occupies a 16th century building on the Market Square – the hub of Lviv life from the 14th to 21st centuries – today it is the best preserved medieval market square in Ukraine. (3 hrs tour)

Day 2

Breakfast at the hotel.

Our morning walking tour of Lviv includes an orientation tour of this charming city with its elegant buildings, numerous Catholic and Orthodox churches, Jewish quarter, ancient Armenian Cathedral, the oldest functioning Pharmacy-museum in the city which occupies a 16^th century building on the Market Square, the hub of Lviv life from the 14^th to 19^th centuries. Today it is the best preserved urban area in Ukraine. And of course we will pay a visit to the city’s elegant Opera and Ballet Theatre, an architectural gem of Lviv, built in the Neo-Renaissance style in 1901 and now considered to be one of the most beautiful theatres in Europe. If there is a performance tonight, you can buy tickets at the box office.

We visit High Castle Hill, the 14^th century remains of a stone castle that replaced the earlier 13^th century wooden fort with excellent 360 degree panoramic views of the city.  Continuing by bus to the fascinating Lychakiv Cemetery, one of the most popular places to see in Lviv.  Resembling a large park, it is one of the oldest necropolises in Europe, many of the monuments are true works of art. Some have compared the cemetery to Pere Lachaise in Paris. Back in 1783 beauty was not a concern to the Lviv Town Council, when it ordered the closing of all cemeteries within the city limits. This action was taken to enforce an order of Austrian Emperor Joseph II to improve sanitary conditions in the 18th century city. Burial plots were established outside the Lviv’s existing city limits, and Lychakiv Cemetery was officially opened in 1786.  It has been the main necropolis of the city’s intelligentsia, middle and upper classes. Since the late 1980s, the cemetery has seen constant rebuilding and refurbishment and continues to be one of the principal tourist attractions of Lviv.
